UCPF is governed by a formal set of rules which are approved by and registered with the commissioner of insurance. The rules are the legal authority for benefits. A board of trustees comprising 50% member and 50% employer appointed has been set up in terms of the pension and provident Funds act to ensure all benefits are paid in accordance with the set of rules. The trustees are empowered by the Act to delegate certain of their various functions to officials who experts in relevant fields. The ARDC appointed a Principal officer to oversee governance issues of the fund and in addition ensures compliance with legislation.
